Have you seen the skies?
Almond slivers
and apricot strokes.
Porcelain bats swoon
at the nape of bare wrists,
suspending the flares
with crescents shaped
like fingernails.
The silhouettes of
grapevine limbs
purr at hollow webs.
But there are rings
around the moon
and frost is coming.

  3. Yes, I´ve seen the sky.
But never in the beatiful way you here so well describe.
You know? I´ll go and try right now!

  4. This poem reminds me of one of Neruda's poem. I don't know, maybe its the focus on concrete mundane objects. There is nothing cliche about this poem and the images play beautifully in my head.

  8. As intimate as a close chat, this piece opens with a question which catches attention and leads to the eloquent vision of what night sky holds. The final thought brings the reader back from the ethereal to earth and the advent of winter. The verse mesmerises. Thanks Madison for a first rate write.
