for lustrous serpents.
To silence the slithering,
I mute the airwaves and imagine
setting fire to my thoughts.
My eyelids whisper,
Please be still.
But they are beautiful,
the silver serpents.
I would rather they hum
in the ridges of my ear canals,
than be a quiet coil of embers.
