My bones were an easel,
and my skin stretched tight,
crosshatched in ocher dye.
You painted with numbers,
pouring white light
inside of my ash-covered eyes.
Whispers swathed lids
in cryptic blue hues,
staining the sink in your lips.
Glass held my breath
in the mirrors you drew,
secretly burning the scripts.
